Over the past few years I have had the  privilege of working with Michael Stewart and Richard Apperley of The Wellington Cathedral of Saint Paul, setting the Eucharist and Evensong services for their choir. Michael and I have shared the work and his skill at orchestrating for the choir has been a revelation. I think Michael and Richard – who has played piano and organ for these works – are two of the finest musicians I have had the pleasure to meet.

In 2020 the choir performed a setting of the Evening Canticles which I prepared for choir and saxophonist Hayden Chisholm. Michael scored the (gorgeous) organ part, which Richard performed. A recording is here.

Richard made a recording of our Eucharist setting (I wrote lead sheets, basically, and Michael scored the songs for choir) which we called ‘Mass for Ordinary Time’. At some point a recording of that should be available. I’ll keep you posted.
